Retails: $8.99 (Total Wine)
One of the things about Total Wine I enjoy most is the professionalism of the staff. If you're a first-time buyer with absolutely no clue, they are dedicated to helping you find something you'll enjoy. If you're a seasoned buyer, they're equally as willing to help you find something new. This past week while shopping at my local Total Wine, I was appraoched by one of the sales staff. After explaining that I wrote for a blog, he was full of useful recommendations, including this blend of reds, Kitchen Sink.
Kitchen Sink's mentality is to aproach wine like a chef would aproach creating a new meal to enjoy. A careful selection and balance of different grapes has created the interesting complexity found within this wine. I am almost certain that no bottle would taste exactly the same.
A power-house blend of California-grown grapes, this red wine is delightfully fruity with a slight peppery taste that finishes with a beautiful tannin flavor. Within this wine you will find Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Syrah grapes lending to its complex flavor. It is an excellent 5 o'clock drink on its own but isn't overpowering. I would caution novice red wine drinkers---I tested this wine on my boyfriend and he found it a little too strong for his liking. I'm restraining myself from drinking the entire bottle in one sitting by myself, it's just that good.
